They can consume a moment, an hour, an evening, a day, a month or maybe even years.
Sometimes they are directed towards someone else, at other times they are directed at an event… though they will always come back to you and reflect how you feel about yourself.
They are your negative thoughts…. so what do you do with them?
There are many different techniques that people do, some are great at releasing them and some techniques I have come across can be quite detrimental, like putting a stop sign up to them. Where does that energy go? and where do you put those thoughts?
Here is one energetic healing technique which can really assist in releasing some of those toxic thoughts.
6 easy steps to releasing negative thoughts!
1. Recognising and Labelling them!
If we have a strong pattern of creating negative thoughts it can sometimes become so habitual that we may not initially recognise them when we do have them.
So the first thing to do is start to become aware of when they are popping up… you can ask yourself an easy question ‘is that a positive or negative thought?‘ Once you have acknowledged it you can then label the thought, ‘oh that is a negative thought‘. Sounds pretty straight forward but what you are actually doing is detaching your emotional response to that thought and simply seeing it as a ‘thing’ that you don’t want.
2. Lasso your thoughts.
Once you have recognised and labelled the thoughts gather them up, lasso them! What other crappy thoughts are you having about that subject, event, yourself or person? This helps with not only the releasing process of the first negative thought but helps you recognise what other beliefs you have around this thought. You can go really deep with this method though remember to keep this simple in order to address our everyday crappy thoughts, if you are wanting to address deep longterm wounds I suggest seeking out a qualified healing practitioner (*clear throat*..me!), counsellor or other professional.
Even though you can’t see thoughts with our eyes, they are energy that you have created. A great way to work with this energy is to start to ‘see’ the thoughts as a form using your imagination, for example, a ‘keep away‘ thought may look like a red prickly ball or an ‘I am so stupid‘ thought could look like a squashed yellow blob; however you sense this energy… is right for you! An easy way to start to see the form of your thoughts, is to ask yourself; ‘What shape would that thought look like?’, ‘What is the texture?’, ‘What is the colour?’ and ‘How big is it?’ This allows you to see your thoughts in an energetic form. Once you know what your thought form looks like it becomes much easier and tangible to work with and release!
4. Release it!
This is a term that is thrown around a lot with no clear direction. How do you release? and the biggest question you need to ask yourself is where do you release it?! As you have now discovered your thoughts do have form, they do have weight and energy, you don’t want to be releasing that stuff straight into your environment… as you will just be creating and sitting in yet another big ball of negative energy. Yuck!
So here is the best bit… you create a place to put your now recognised energetic negative thought form, in order to release it!
One easy method is to imagine a beautiful column of White Light in front of you, which connects from the Earth up to the The Light/Universe/God/Great Central Sun – whatever your belief system is – and this column of white light is like a vacuum cleaner and sucks all negative energy back up to the Light to be dealt with. Now imagine placing that negative thought form into the column of light. You can do this by imagining you are scooping it in your hands, moving it with your breath or shovelling it in, what ever works for you!
Then… Bam! It’s gone!
(once this part of the process is finished you can also instruct for the column to also be taken back up to the Light.)
5. Fill ‘er up.
Now that you have released the crappy thoughts out of your energy field, the best thing to do is to replace it with nice, nurturing and supportive energy.
Good rule of thumb:- when you take out yuck energy always replace it with nice nurturing love filled energy!
This can be done in a few ways… though one quick technique is to simply ask for massive Golden Light to enter. This pretty much covers all bases and allows Universal Love energy to enter your being.
This is an ongoing process and the more you do this practice the easier and quicker it becomes. It can literally take under a minute to do!
We all have limiting or negative thoughts at some point in our lives so please be kind and gentle with yourself. Continue to repeat this technique and I promise you that by simply recognising and releasing those thoughts, bringing in good and healthy energy like the golden light, positive changes will occur and you will be able to deal with those niggly fears and thoughts without them impacting your emotions as much.
Hope this technique helps and provides some useful tips for you. You can do it as a regular quick process or in meditation, though just remember that these tips should not be regarded as a replacement for any medication or advice for people who are clinically depressed. Be safe and sensible.
