What to do when things Go to Shit.
[Warning: Don’t read this post if you don’t like the word ‘Shit’]
It doesn’t matter how positive and optimistic you are; things can go to shit.
And that’s just life.
Life will wrap you up in the most amazing beauty you could possibly imagine.
But life will also give you challenges.
And these challenges can be heart wrenching to the core or niggly shitty things that frustrate you.
Everyone will have challenges.
(Though for this post, I am not talking about the loss of a loved one.
That is Spirit Shit.
That is Divine-Plan-Karmic-bigger-than-you-and-I sort of shit.
Here, I’m talking about the loss-of-a-house, the shedding-of-a-friendship or loss-of-an-income type of shit.)
And I believe these types of challenges occur to help you expand your awareness and resources.
They are there to teach you.
For you to see even more beauty.
For you to experience life at it’s fullest.
And to learn that…
Yep, it just does.
But if you don’t address the shit then you may end up creating a tsunami of shit, which could dump even more shit on you.
‘Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. SHIT!’ I hear you say….
And by moving through the shit, whether your up to your neck in it or full of it, you can find ways to move through it more easily.
And clean yourself off after the shit storm.
So I would love to share a range of resources and techniques that I personally use to clear my shit and see it for what it is.
So here are…
9 Tips you can Action when Things Go to Shit.
1) Honour Thy Shit.
It’s time to look at it.
Really look at the shit that has happened. It’s not a time to run away even though you may want to.
We as a society, are all too quick to flush our shit.
As it’s yucky to look at and it stinks.
But now is the best time to look at it and really see it.
And name it.
Name your pain.
Name your challenge.
Name your shit.
For example, you may have had your house repossessed and the pain you feel is anger, shame, guilt etc.
Naming it and understanding what emotions are there, is your first step to your new awareness of your shit.
And it’s helpful to sound it out.
Shout it out.
“I’m so f*cking angry at….”
“I feel ashamed of…”
“I feel guilty when…”
Vent, purge and get that shit out of your body for you to see it.
Just beware not to shit on anyone in the process.
2) Realise what your Shit is Doing FOR You.
Literally, what is shit?
It’s a by-product of the things you have ingested in your life that your body, mind and spirit needs to eliminate for you to thrive at your optimum.
If you don’t shit… you die.
Now, you may not think that your shit will help you thrive at this stage because the pain may be very strong…
But after you have named your shit and looked at it….
A great thing to do is write down a list of things your shit has taught you.
“It has taught me to ensure I know all aspects of my business, even though I outsource.”
“Even though I loved someone that hurt me, I did love and have loved; which is precious.”
“I am really strong and I have learnt I can cope under pressure and manage a stressful situation.”
This process helps you to honour and acknowledge what the shit is teaching you and is extremely self empowering!
By this stage you are probably feeling a lot clearer… that your shit is starting to look normal and ok now.
3) It’s time to Look at the Good Shit.
Writing down what you are grateful for and what you already have in your life, has a huge effect on your perception of your circumstances.
And allows the energy to flow for more good shit to happen.
Gratitude also has a positive physiological effect on your body and mind.
As it helps release endorphins (happy hormones) and reduces your stress response, helps to increase your immune function and can be contagious.
By showing gratitude of the positives in your life can make way for more of that to multiply.
Energy flows where attention goes.
4) Unblock that toilet.
As it’s time to clean house.
Decluttering your space, home and/or biz can have a huge impact on your clearing.
The shit you physically see in your home or office will also be clogging up your drainage and abundance systems.
This type of shit is a physical manifestation or representation of your shit.
And it drains your energy, blocks you from flushing and stops positive energy finding you.
It’s time to clear that crap and let go of items that are holding you back from thriving.

5) Nurture you.
When you feed your body with great nutritious food your shit flows better.
You’ll still have shit, but you won’t be constipated, you won’t have diarrhoea and it won’t be as stinky.
So it’s time to really nourish and nurture yourself. Not only during a big stinky shitty time, but all the time, because when that shit comes you want your body, mind and spirit to be able to cope well and be as resilient as it can be.
Eating well, going to bed at a reasonable hour, taking time out, meditating, relaxing when you can, being kind to yourself; all these things builds up your resources and creates good health and wellbeing.
6) Clear some old shit
When you are going through shit, underlying sabotages may see you going round and round in circles.
Same shit, different smell.
And this can be caused by unconscious sabotage patterns that may have developed at a different time or through different circumstances. They keep you stuck from moving forward and can ‘sabotage’ your ability to create more abundance and happiness in your life.

7) Create an Action Plan to get you through your Shit
I like to sit down and clear the shit out of my head and create some clarity around my goals and what I want in my life.
Here’s my general Action Plan process….
- Write down ALL your challenges and shit. (we deal with them with Tap into Your Shit bit)
- Then write down what you WANT in your life. How you desire you life to look, feel and be like.
- This can then be followed up with creating a personal vision board. Here are some Feng Shui tips for vision boarding >>
- Next write out all the ways in which you can make your goals achievable.
- And add a date to them e.g. 1st March 2015, I have all my accounts and taxes up to date etc. Even plot them out on a calendar or planner.
- Then at the start of each week write your to-do list to achieve those goals
- MOST IMPORTANT!! Put them into action!!
8) Tap into the Shit
Apart from my other healing tools, I use EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) regularly as it’s a powerful and effective self healing technique that anyone can use.
Tapping is a way to discharge the negative energy from our meridian system and boost it with positive affirmations.
Get your list of challenges and fears that you wrote in your Action Plan and tap them with EFT.
Once you have felt that you have tapped the challenges enough, then tap the positives of how you want it to look and feel like.

9) Forgive the Shit and Flush it.
It’s not until you can truly and really forgive yourself and any other person involved in the shit, that you can truly flush it.
The shit will still be there, stewing away in your septic tank until you are able to really and truly release it through the act of forgiveness.
This is a process…
There is no instant way to forgiveness.
And it may take you a few goes at it or even years, to really release all the ingredients in your shit.
But you can start and you can continue until there is no longer any emotional charge when seeing your shit.
There are many ways you can embark on the forgiveness journey…
Here is one process that has started to make a re-emergence, it’s called Ho’oponopono.
This technique can start to shift your perception and start the process of forgiveness. Done regularly; it can shift a lot of shit!
Sit and bring to mind a person, yourself or an event that requires forgiveness.
And repeat the following by saying out loud or to yourself.
I hope these tips help you to acknowledge, see and forgive yourself and your shit.
There is nothing wrong with your shit.
Everyone has shit.
And it’s time to honour your shit and really see it as one of your amazing paths to happiness…
