Day #156 (Sacred Space)
The Sacred Practice of Gifting Back and how it can deepen your gratitude, connection and abundance.
This morning I detoured from my normal path and decided to take a pause on the beautiful Lake Macquarie, just to connect, visit Water Spirit and say hi to the birds.
Whilst sitting on my rock admiring Pelican I mentally called out to Pelican and suggested that one day I would love to be gifted a feather. And I just left it at that.
I decided to go on a wander to see if any other nature spirits would love to gift me anything for my sacred work and healing mandalas. I came across some paper bark that was lying on the ground, a dead leaf which glowed at me and a dandelion.
As I was consciously keeping an eye out for sacred nature gifts my eyes were being diverted to the rubbish on the ground.
Once I was satisfied with my sacred collection I picked up rubbish – mainly plastic – on my return. Consciously thanking the environment and Spirit of the gifts I had received.
This is what I like to call Gifting Back.
I don’t know whether there is any other term.
We take from nature and our environment all the time, every minute, every sec. Without her, there would be no you or me.
When we are gifted a sacred tool we are part of a process. A cycle. A connection. Gifting back to that space, to the nature Divas, to Divine, animal and tree spirits by doing a simple act as picking up rubbish, sends a message of gratitude, presence, deep connection and communication with all that is around you.
The act of gifting back can be done in every interaction with your space e.g. after taking your kids to the park, thank the area for holding the space of fun and laughter for you and your family. Pick up extra rubbish, give a donation to the local landcare etc.
Whilst I was still picking up plastic after this little thank you to the space, I went over to pick up some more plastic and found a large feather (kinda like a small Pelican feather) wrapped in plastic. I felt like Spirit heard me and provided the gift of a feather and the message of a returned thank you.
The practice of Gifting Back will help you connect to the sacred, to the Spirit of a place and ultimately strengthen your relationship with the Divine.
P.S. Please share it on your Facebook, Twitter or any other social media site just for the LOVE of it.
