• The Yoga Nidra meditation is a specific meditation to assist in bringing about deep relaxation on the physical, emotional and mental levels as well as helping shift negative patterns to allow your full potential to surface.
• Yoga Nidra is sometimes called the ‘Psychic Sleep’ as it allows you to reach alpha states of consciousness; the same state you are in when you are sleeping.
• This is a guided meditation where you are required to lay comfortably, arms by your side with palms facing up and shoulder width apart.
• The meditation goes for approx 30mins, so make sure you will be warm enough and not to be disturbed for this time e.g. you have taken your phone off the hook etc.
• One of the most important things is for you is to not fall asleep. You will probably find this hard to do when you first start as it is such a relaxing practice but the aim is to stay awake and alert.
• The meditation takes you through a rotation of body parts in a particular order, this is important as this practice helps with massaging and stimulating your nervous system in a particular way.
• Within the meditation I will ask you to repeat your ‘Sankalpa 3 times’ which you will to have prepare before you start.
Definition: – SANKALPA is a Sanskrit word meaning a resolution, free will or determination. It is believed in Indian medicine that nature heals and the physician facilitates the process of healing. Natural health demands an individual to use his/her own innate healing powers to treat or manage a specific health problem. Hence, an individualized resolve (Sankalpa) is the basic tool in initiating the healing process.
