My Friends Favourite Natural Cosmetics
Day #265 of #365 Days of Feng Shui
I recently asked some friends what their favourite Natural Beauty products were….
I researched approx 12 products which people believed were safe and healthy. Unfortunately there were quite a lot of products they were using that, even though some of the ingredients were amazing, other chemicals and irritants were added.
It’s really important when researching your products to go through the ingredients thoroughly (How to research for safe cosmetics post coming soon)
But here are some great tips and products that you can use that are safe, healthy and just plain yummy.
I really love Mukti Moisturizer with Aloe because it's so light, and doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy afterwards. And now I know that all the ingredients have been given the thumbs up, just makes me love it even more!
I first discovered Tamanu Oil a couple of years while on holiday in Vanautu. I had some mosquito bites, I get quite severe swelling and irritation from them usually, and was having a body scrub and massage and the therapist used the oil on my bites and it was like magic!
I asked her more about it and discovered how wonderful Tamanu Oil was for so many things. It's completely natural and sustainable coming from the oil of nuts that have fallen from the Tamanu Tree, and it's been used for centuries in the South Pacific.
It has been attributed, even by Dr Oz, to helping with a great complexion too. I really love it and use it on myself and my kids, it can also be mixed with other oils for a great moisturiser.
There are so many foods and oils that we can use from our kitchen cupboards. I use organic virgin coconut oil on my face and body all the time. It’s amazing and can be used in so many different ways to support our skin, externally and internally. It’s also an effective conditioning treatment for your hair and a tablespoon ingested each day is purported to support the digestive system with its anti-microbial properties.
It’s anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, full of anti-oxidants and of course smells divine. It’s a wonderful cleanser and moisturiser.
I like to carefully massage into my face, leave on for a couple of minutes and then use a warm facecloth or muslin cloth to gently remove. You can use a tablespoon and add a couple of drops of your favourite essential oil. Lavender, Roman Chamomile or Rose would be soothing and relaxing to use in the evening. You could also add the same to a bath before bed or massage into your body after a shower as part of your evening ritual.
I can't pick a favourite from all the divine handmade soaps in the Bare Nature'sKin apothecary in Laguna. There are so many delicious combinations and watching Shelby make them right there in font of you, with so many varieties curing in the space around you is complete sensory overload. I love it!
But my favourite product is her divine bath salts. Weaving together a mix of fresh botanicals (that she's usually grown herself and always wildcrafted) with himalayan salt, essential oils infused with crystals, all natural powders and not a single nasty anywhere even near it. A long deep soak in one of these concoctions transports you to another place, another space. You rise from the bathwater cleansed, changed, healed. It's magic, pure and simple.
And here are some pics of Bare Nature’sKin apothecary, which just looks Divine!
Look at all that Goodness!
