How Clutter can Affect your Kids
Clutter and mess creates stagnant and jumbled energy and can have an affect on many aspects of your life.
Children are particularly sensitive to energy and so this type of stagnation and jumbled energy may also become reflected in your child’s behaviour.
Mess and clutter within your child’s bedroom can have a huge impact on how they function and may affect their physical, mental and emotional health.
Children usually spend at least 8 – 10 hours sleeping each day and according to Feng Shui, the more time they spend in the cluttered energy the more they will be affected.
Therefore, clutter can result in children feeling tired, drained, unmotivated and depending on the ‘Flying Stars’ of their bedroom, (this is a particular energy that is calculated for your individual home) the clutter may enhance the challenging aspect of the star. E.g. increase arguments, accidents, trouble with authority etc.
For your child, clutter may…
- Increase challenging behaviours.
- Prevent restful sleep.
- Make it harder for your children to get to sleep.
- Increase the feeling of being tired and drained.
- Create an environment where it’s difficult to study
- Decrease motivation.
- Increase depression
- Suppress their immune system.
- Create distractions and your child may find it hard to make decisions.
- If you have older children and teens, clutter may actually reflect their mental health state. And could be a red flag to challenges they may be experiencing.
So if your child is susceptible to depression or rebellious behaviour keeping their room as bright, organised and clear as you can, will help with supporting them through these times.
EXTRA DECLUTTER TIP: – Keep under your child’s bed clear. Clutter here may increase stagnation in their health and physical bodies. Also make sure they don’t have anything above or behind their heads that stores items such as shelves with toys and books. Having items here can increase mental clutter and may increase stress, wakefulness and anxiety.
Regularly decluttering your child’s room provides a clear and more stable environment to support them through their developmental stages and a great place for them to blossom.
