Why do you think following your Passion is such an important practice for you to do?
When you follow your Passion you are bringing meaning and purpose into your life. Following your Passion or Heart’s desire can be described as a creative endeavour which brings happiness and joy, inspiration and drive into your life.
Your Passion will always be felt in your Heart chakra and you will always have a sense of knowing when someone asks you what you love to do. Also when you follow your Passion it assists in maintaining your health and healthy stress levels and you open yourself up to new possibilities and positive energy.
Everyone has at least one Passion and you can tell when someone is talking about their Passion as their eyes light up, they sit upright and their voice becomes animated and full of enthusiasm.
Take a moment to feel how your passion can affect your body and mind. Sit upright in a chair and take a nice big breath to relax. Now just quickly assess your body. Are you sitting upright, fairly relaxed, now picture in your mind a particular job that you found unfulfilling and really didn’t like. How does that feel for you? Do you have a dread feeling in the pit of your stomach? Is your jaw clenched and calf muscles tight?
Now just let that thought go and take another deep breath.
And image now the possibility of following you true Hearts desire or Passion. Do you feel joy, experiencing a sense of freedom, energised, bright? Are you sitting more upright? Do you feel motivated? And is the energy flowing?
So why aren’t more people following their Heart’s desire?
Most of all it is due to fear of failure and lack of financial security. A lot of people remain stuck in a job or circumstances they aren’t truly happy with and it requires life changes and commitment to follow your Passion. It can be quite a daunting thing for some people, for if you decide to follow your Passion it not only affects your life but the people around you.
Imagine: – You have a large mortgage and you live with your partner and child. Both you and your partner are earning good salaries, though you are stressed and tired all the time.
You don’t have a lot of time for your child and when you do you are usually cranky and worn-out. Though once every 2-3 months you have the opportunity of making and decorating cakes for family and friends. You have talent, skill and a real passion for cake decorating.
Now consider leaving your job and setting up your own cake decorating business. This will impact on your partner, your child, your finances and you! Some of the fears that you may experience are :-
- Fear of lack- ‘What if I can’t pay the mortgage?’, ‘Can Iprovide for my child?’
- Fear of being resented and rejected – ‘Will my partner support me or resent me for changing the goal posts?’, ‘Will my mother/father/family/friends accept what I am doing?’
- Fear of failure – ‘Will I be successful?’, ‘What if I throw my job away and nobody likes my cakes?’
But ultimately how will this impact on you?
Following your Heart is just that! Your Heart’s desire. This may also be known as your Soul’s Purpose or Life’s Path and when you begin on this path it starts to bring about balance, joy and true fulfilment to your life. It is such an empowering feeling when you start to take those first uncertain steps of following your passion, throwing caution to the wind and trusting in the universe. Also remember that it takes a lot of hard and dedicated work to be successful in your pursuits, though when following your Passion the energy flows more freely, you are more truthful to yourself and you don’t seem to make those excuses of why you really shouldn’t go to work today.
When you follow your Passion it not only impacts positively on you, it extends out to others. When you meet someone who you know is following their Passion you become inspired and motivated and it nudges us to question ourselves and whether we are living our own true path.
Your Passion doesn’t necessarily need to be your life’s work now, though incorporating it into your daily life is very important for your sense of health and happiness!.
