Day #70 (Detox)
Which is the healthiest to use? Sweeping versus Vacuuming?
The dust you have in your home or business is unfortunately becoming a very toxic waste ball.
Your furnishings, cleaning products, TV, printers, your electronics, chemical residues tracked in from outside and any residue from past fumigation’s or gardening toxins are going to impact the chemical load in your space in the form of dust.
Flame retardants, mercury, lead and pesticides are just some of the chemicals that are in our modern lifestyle dusts. And these chemicals are linked to poor brain development, immune system and reproductive issues.
Eeeek! I know right?
Who would have thought that dust can have such a huge impact on your health?
In fact David Suzuki mentions on his website that household dust is one of the biggest sources for your children to be exposed to chemicals!
And has likened it to the equivalent of smoking 3 cigarettes a day for your kids!!! That is huge!!
So what happens when you sweep your floors?
The dust becomes airborne and there is a higher risk of breathing ion the dust.
Using a vacuum with good filters is much better.
A HEPA filter vacuum is the best at collecting dust and most parents with kids with severe asthma would know it’s the only way to vacuum.
Also regular mopping and using of damp microfibre cloths is recommended after vacuuming.
Ok so just a few little David Suzuki facts there to freak you out, but all in the cause to reduce your chemical load.
