Day #68 (Detox)
What’s in your tap Water?
Oh well this is a bit of a biggy topic, but wanted to touch upon this to plant some seeds for you to start researching.
Australia, in particular, boasts about having good healthy tap water for drinking and household duties, but really the truth about our tap water has not been discussed on a wide open field.
And its not only the quality of the water that has been tested at it’s source but what seems to be missing is the quality of the water once it reaches, all those kilometres away, your tap.
Your water travels through so many pipes and systems before it comes out of your tap; it is subjected to the conditions of the pipes and however else it is transported.
Here is a bit of as run down of the chemicals we may be exposed to through our tap water.
Chlorine – this is actually added to Australia’s tap water and has been linked to bladder and kidney cancer.
Fluoride – also added which is linked to reduction in bone strength, bone cancer, lowered IQ and more.
Aluminium, Copper, Lead and chemicals from PVC can all be as a result from main and domestic pipes and can range in health concerns from ADHD to mental health issues and testicular cancer.
And when we have extreme weather conditions, such as flooding, pesticides can also leach into our waterways.
So much huh?
It can be a little daunting and overwhelming when all we really want is good healthy water to drink and give to our family.
Water filters are a great way you can start reducing these chemicals. There are so many on the market and it can get confusing, though there is a great article by Nicole Bijlsma – building biologist – and I’m lucky enough to have her as one of my teachers – with her break down of suitable water filters and what to look out for – http://goo.gl/ACRbeP
Start drinking the good stuff.
P.S. Please share it on your Facebook, Twitter or any other social media site just for the LOVE of it.
