Day #67 (General and Sacred Space)
Animals play a large role in Feng Shui, bringing their qualities into the home.
Traditionally Feng Shui uses certain animals to bring fortune, protection, wisdom, strength and much more to your space.
Animals have an innate wisdom and qualities and have also been widely used with in Western and Indigenous spiritual practise for guidance and messages from spirit.
Every culture has a spiritual relationship with animals, from the Native Americans using eagle feathers for clearing and blessings, to China through Feng Shui, in Dreamtime stories in the Australian Aboriginal culture, to Western society using animals for national symbols and identity and there are obviously many more examples.
You have probably come across many statues of animals that are used as Feng Shui cures or enhancers e.g. The Money Frog for wealth, a pair of Mandarin Ducks to attract relationships etc these symbols are usually well known symbols in the Chinese culture, but if you do not resonate with these animals and their meanings then are they going to bring in the energy and qualities that you desire?
Mandarin Ducks are used to attract relationships because these animals mate for life and have life partners, so if this is the quality that they bring then why not use any animal that means something to you with these same qualities?
I personally have an affinity to Australian animals and birds so why not try using Black Swans, as they too mate for life.
By using animal symbols that are personal to you, you will naturally increase the meaning and energy of that symbol.
Magpies are a personal biggy for me as they bring me messages and guidance and I connect with them regularly in my own environment. I also use the feathers that they leave in my healing mandalas and for space clearing.
Start to notice the animals in your surroundings and connect with their qualities and what messages and teachings they bring for you. xx
