Day #66 (Detox)
Ventilation in the Bathroom.
One of the most important Feng Shui practises you can do for your bathroom is to have great ventilation.
As your bathroom is one of the main wet rooms in your home and creates the dampest conditions it is highly important to have good ventilation to reduce any chances of yeasts and moulds growing.
If you have a highly damp bathroom or creates lots of condensation after showers it may mean you need to check your ventilation system. This could simply be opening a window or having an extractor fan.
Good ventilation will clear a bathroom within 10mins of using it. If it takes longer to clear then this could start to cause damp and mould issues.
Yeasts and moulds can cause a variety of health problems. It can increase asthma, is linked to depression and can cause fatigue, dizziness, headaches, skin rashes, fevers and more.
Large amounts of mould e.g. a whole ceiling, means that the fungus has infected the material itself and no amount of cleaning will kill the spores. Its usually advise to replace the material and burn the infected material.
I can remember looking at house to rent when I was pregnant with our 1st child and looking at a place where every ceiling in the home was black with mould. I shudder to think what any tenant that took that place may have felt like from living there.
Remember, on small patches of mould like the shower unit – using bleach will feed mould and vinegar will help kill the mould.
