Day #15 [General]
What is Yang?
Part of Feng Shui and the Chinese 5 Element Theory is to work with and recognise the energies at play.
One of those energies is Yang. The other is Yin.
In western culture we tend to see Yin and Yang as opposites though really they are complimentary; as with every light there must be darkness, every day there must be night.
So let’s talk about Yang for today.
Yang is active, expansive, and always on the go. It is day time, the sun which brightens it’s surroundings.
Yang is male, forward and fast on it’s feet. It is movement, motivated and ascending.
And how does this all apply to Feng Shui?
There are homes that are more Yang than others and you can see this purely by looking at its surroundings. If you have balanced Yang and balanced Yin home or business then this means that you have a healthy balance of being active and motivated and then rest when you need to restore.
If you have a home that is more Yang, then you may feel busy all the time and don’t make time for yourself to rest.
You will be motivated and active but do you really sit down and just stop? A strong Yang home is created by the ‘forms’ that are on either side of your building. Forms = trees, other buildings, landscapes etc And too much of a certain form and size creates a strong Yang house or building.
There are also areas in your home that are Yang and other rooms where you want them to be Yin.
Your main entrance, kitchen and living room are 3 of the main Yang rooms in your home. And they should be. These are all active areas. Though if you feel that these areas feel a bit sluggish, then this may reflect also in an area of your life.
So an easy practice to do is to create more Yang within these rooms.
How do you do this?
Ensure the rooms are bright and light filled, you may wish to place plants, open the windows, place crystals into the room or play some music – all Yang activities and notice if you feel the difference.
