In Chinese Astrology, the energy of a month doesn’t come into until, sometimes, a week into the calendar month. The energy for August starts on the 7th August at 5.47pm where we have just welcomed in Yang Earth playing and supporting the Monkey (Metal) element.
This month, the Metal element is very strong and is supported by both the month and the years energy influence.
August supports you to let go of those aspects of yourself that no longer is needed or fits within this time frame. You have culminated everything up until this point; from last month of bringing together all of your talents and skills from years gone by. It’s time now, to further hone these aspects of yourself and let go of all the old patterning and beliefs which may have stopped you from using your older knowledge in the past.
It’s a time to embrace the deeper aspects of yourself, to go deep within the darkness and identify the seed.
You will find that on the surface there is still the sense of cohesion and bringing together of people, friends and family, though this is for a deeper purpose as to find out and reveal more about yourself. Grief may play a role in August, as you recognise aspects of yourself dropping away. So it’s important to reassure yourself that grief is part of any process and cycle, in order for the next phase or transition.
What are you holding onto that needs to be released?
Have you been pushing a particular aspect of your life to ‘work’ the way you want it too and not getting anywhere? Is it time to let it go? August’s energy is letting you know and supporting you through this reshuffling and wants you to understand that once released, does not mean that you have lost it, as you may also find it just returns in a different more cohesive and grounded manner.
You see, Earth plays a role in supporting your releasing ritual. Earth is also good to have around for loyalty, nurturing and groundedness and has the ability to hold space for you whilst going through the next transitional period.
August is your Alchemy time, a time to self reflect, to transform and to tap into your self worth and self knowing. It’s your time.
It’s your time. (worth repeating twice)
And this energy also strongly supports you in beautifying your space. If you’ve been needing to come back to centre, back to home, then working with your external space will help with transforming your internal. Decluttering and paying attention to the finer details of your environment will be on your priority list. It’s a great time to redecorate or show your appreciation to your space by creating beauty in which to thrive and be nurtured.
You may even be moving house. This means that you are simply shifting on a personal identity level and its time to change it up and for new lessons to come in.
In fact, your environment will play a huge role in your wellbeing in August and you may see yourself buying more house plants, colourful homewares or tending your garden. When you start to work in your physical environment for self transformation you can go through a process that can shift your energy more readily and simply without having to engage a lot of your conscious awareness.
Feel into your home or space, allow it to talk to you and see what comes up. Move with it, because it will bring you your learnings. Say for example, you are guided to declutter and beautify your bedroom, this then in turn, will allow you to rest well and sleep better. It may also have a positive effect on your health and relationships (Flying Star theory) and may also be part of your self-knowledge sector (Compass School Feng Shui) therefore opening up more possibilities of pursuing self-guided education or spiritual pursuits. All these changes occurring for you because you were guided to tidy your room. Your conscious awareness in all of these transformations wasn’t engaged but the impact of working with your physical space can be multilayered without you even knowing what you’re shifting and moving internally.
You may even find yourself spending time making yourself look and feel good. Sprucing up your wardrobe, buying new jewellery or getting your hair styled. August will lead you to activities that will boost your self-esteem and confidence and allow you to see the value within yourself.
The Metal element energy also governs your Lungs and Large intestine which emphasises the energy of releasing and letting go. Your skin is also considered your 2nd lung and so you may find yourself addressing this also. Breathing exercises, getting outdoors and breathing in the fresh air and opening up your windows and doors to allow air flow, will all assist in supporting your physical body this month.
This month you may find that you are starting to feel a sense of loyalty to certain people, or seeking those who hold these qualities. You may also feel the need to surround yourself with those who are grounded, hardworking and honest. It’s during these transitioning times that you feel the need for security and stability and this will show up on the surface towards others or from others. Though beware that this energy could also show itself as the ‘Worrier’. Try not to be drawn into your anxiety or the anxiety of others, and stay strong in your discernment. There’s no use transforming your life from fear or the inability to let go of past hurts.
For some people the Elements of Metal and Earth may not be favourable; worry and becoming a hermit may feel the strongest desires for you. You may need your time out from the world to focus on your grief. Even though this is necessary for your process, try not to drown in those tears. Acknowledge the process without it encompassing you. Meditation and slow exercise like Yin Yoga are two of the best activities you can do to support you through this seed phase or Sacred Space sessions can be a great way to assist you >>
August is a great time to let go, release the old and build your self worth through inner work. It’s time to focus, pay attention to the details and let go of the dross and chatter.
Enjoy this month of August and use this strong Yang Earth Monkey to help you to go within and let go of what is no longer needed.
