The energy for August starts on 7th at 8:30pm as we move into the Earth Monkey until the 6th September.
August is the shake up month of the year! And change is on the agenda as we move into the Earth Metal Monkey month.
Many Feng Shui Masters are talking about this particular month as it is in clash with the Tiger, the Grand Duke for the year 2022.
So the major theme of August is to ‘go with the flow’ and not resist!
The Monkey has the ability to cut down the Tiger of the year, which creates change on many levels. You may see a change in your career, relationships, your home or way of seeing things. Embrace these changes as you navigate new dynamics of energy and new cycles approaching.
Staying stuck in your old ways of doing things will not serve you. Change can be uncomfortable, scary and disruptive but resistance is futile. You may only be delaying the inevitable and causing more stress than is necessary when you dig in your heels and become stubborn. Going kicking and screaming will only exhaust you and cause your voice to become hoarse; And this doesn’t help anyone, especially yourself.
The Metal of the Monkey is reminding you to let go, let go, let go!
The Metal of the Monkey is the axe for the year with strong reactions. So this is a time for you to go deeply inside and transform yourself. The Metal can be cold and harsh but your inner knowing it allows you to tap into will be your insight to your new growth.
The Metal Monkey is yang and is instructing you to take considered action to address the coming changes. Though a word of warning; do not make rash decisions as this could cause further challenges. The best way for you to navigate the fast occurrences of August is to meditate and listen to your intuition. Making decisions based on fear and pressure will not do you well. So take a breath and wait until it feels right.
Change also goes hand in hand with grief. As whenever we let go of something or someone, we need to process this event and the cycle of grief will follow. So be gentle with yourself and know that this is a natural part of your emotional processing.
The Metal Monkey, although sounds challenging for 2022, it’s also a sign and instigator of new beginnings! And a personal invitation for you to self reflect and problem solve. It may be a time to eliminate the non-essential and focus on the necessaries. August is the perfect time to declutter your stuff, your business and emotions and start from the ground up.
If you have a Snake in your chart, August may be even more challenging as the Tiger, Monkey and Snake form a particular strong Fire penalty. This type of challenge maybe related to health, communication, optimism, money and spiritual.
We may even see more challenging events occur on Snake days and hours in the month of August. This could be related to actual fires, heated arguments, problems with addictions, mental health and nervous tension.
I would also like you to take extra care whilst travelling and road tripping as both the Tiger and the Monkey are considered ‘Travelling Horses’ and as they are in clash, there’s a higher potential for accidents.
The Yang Earth element of the heavenly stem (top character) may be a bit unstable as it gives a lot of it’s energy to the Monkey; this means that you may sacrifice your health to deal with the stress of the change that Monkey brings.
Yang Earth (Wu) is considered the mountain, stable, reliable and independent, but because it’s giving so much of it’s time to appease the Monkey this normally stable environment becomes weaker in it’s ability to keep everything together.
Yang Earth sometimes has the tendency to make decisions based on what others may think, so it’s important through such changing times to ditch this completely and make your choices from a place of both head and heart balance. Sometimes Wu will be too emotionally driven and tend to forget to think about logical applications, so this is a sign for you to not only go with your gut but also to ensure that what you are basing your decisions on what’s right for you and if it’s practical.
Most importantly, it’s important for Wu to not become immovable and rigid. Flexibility may not be the natural response to the challenges in store for August but it’s exactly what you need to embody. During the major themes of the clash of the Monkey and Tiger, with Wu present, we may feel a force of opposites. With Wu normally being the stable Mountain; strong, steady and reliable, it’s actually indicating that you may be pushed out of your comfort zone and are required to apply actions that aren’t usually in your nature, in order to survive this clash.
The Earth element also governs our environment. This means anything from your home, work or community and even global environment could feel very unstable. It can also indicate a high potential of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Ensure you can find some sanctuary in such chaos, even if it’s for 5 mins a day to sit and just be.
August brings us into mid-year according to the Chinese Astrology calendar. And from this moment onwards we will be more influenced by the Tiger.
We may see the fear in the global community lessen and more passionate roaring (speaking up). The Tiger is fierce and can represent mothers protecting their children. It will be interesting to see what develops in the next 6 months.
Healthy August
As the Metal element is so strong in August we may see more respiratory ailments directing the narrative, though it doesn’t necessarily mean that we will see more ailments out in the community, just that it will create strong guidelines to follow. In fact, when the Metal is in balance and prominent it has the ability to protect the body from pathogens. Let’s hope that strong Metal will be of benefit to our overall respiratory health.
Metal also governs your skin as it’s considered the second Lung which is a signal for you to increase your protection. Your skin is the boundary between you and the outside world and form a protective layer for your most vital physical part of yourself. This means that you may need to take extra care of your skin, go in and have a skin check but also ensure that your emotional self has healthy boundaries. This will ensure you are making your decisions without being influenced by those external to you.
As mentioned there’s potential for people with Snake in their chart or Snake days to create a strong Fire penalty. What this may mean is that Heart health should not be overlooked! People like Elvis Presley had this very Fire penalty occur on the day of his death. Having both the Tiger and Monkey in his chart, he passed away from Heart failure when he was in a luck cycle of the Snake, in a Snake year and Snake day.
So it’s vitally important the heart health is high on the list of importance for August. Whenever Heart energy comes up in Chinese Astrology, Feng Shui Masters will always point you to Co Q10 supplementation. (I’m not a Naturopath or doctor, but it maybe useful to research this and ask a professional)
With the instability of the Earth element (Wu) it’s indicating that digestion may need to be your focus as stress levels mount with change. Ensure you are eating warm nourishing food such as stews and soups including root vegetables. Pumpkin and Sweet potato are the best Earth element foods to eat.
Move your body and keep active as this will assist with your flexibility and ability to adjust to change. But it also needs to be coupled with meditation and stillness. Movement meditations are perfect for this or activities such as Qigong and Tai Qi will be beneficial for August.

The monthly Flying Stars
Oh my goodness.
I actually have to show you this month’s Flying Star Chart in relation to the Annual chart and Earth chart just so you can see for yourself what the energy of August is bringing.
Here it is…
Normally each palace (box) would have a different Star (number/energy) but as you can see we are in a triple whammy of energy.
What this can mean, is that the challenges are stronger and more likely and the wins may also be super powerful. We are in a month of extremes.
With the 5 star in the Central Palace it can indicate that catastrophes are central to your world and what keeps you busy. It may mean you are constantly having to put out spot fires or managing crises.
I also have to warn you against any banging, knocking nails in walls or disruption in the centre of your home or building, this may trigger challenges on a grand scale. Keep this area quite and undisturbed in August.
Please also be aware of tension and problems with your marriage, partnership or business partnership for August, there maybe particular strain on the matriarch of the family. It’s wise to understand that August is particularly intense with it’s energy, and any major challenges coming up in these areas of your life, could subside by September.
If you have a bedroom in the South sector of your home, August may signal a health crisis (it may be related to the heart) or flag the resolve or end of one. With the triple 9 in the South sector, it can indicate the beginning or the end of a specific event. I have seen this myself with the start of a significant health event with this pattern. And hopefully it will also signal the end of this health event.
It’s a good idea to keep some balance and harmony in your family unit especially with children. Both these areas are contending with ‘Cranky Pants Stars’ (this is my term for argumentative energy). The best thing to do is bring in some movement, exercise and possibly swimming and baths. As the water element will help to bridge this tension.
Your youngest son is very much supported this month and you may see some break throughs with his progress.
It’s also a great time to retain information and to study to expand your knowledge and resources. It’s very much supported and it will help you in this tumultuous month. It a time for you to become self-reliant and to strengthen your internal governance. You may be wondering where you fit into the big scheme of things.
And August is also a great month to enhance your status especially in the business of what you do and how you can help people. You are supported as you increase your awareness of how you can divinely express yourself out to the world.
Qi Men Dun Jai for August
I’m only in my infancy with this modality as it’s the most complicated of all Chinese Metaphysics but let’s explore…
Some people may unfortunately lose a strong friendship this month. This loss of support means that you will have to stand up for yourself. Though there’s a very strong chance that a ‘Noble person’ will show up to assist. When Noble people are indicated it’s a good idea to keep your eye’s peeled. This is a good thing as Noble people come with wisdom, guidance and experience.
There may be some confusion around health, this may mean that you don’t have all the information yet or that you’re not quite sure what may be going on.
The Deity of Obstruction is present and is the signal to go with the flow just like water over the damn wall. Stay on your path and allow yourself to flow around challenges and you will naturally flow back onto your path.
Auspicious Days of August
Through each month there are certain days and hours that are particularly auspicious.
The dates below are general and doesn’t apply for every situation. For example, 7th August may be auspicious to move house, though it’s not auspicious for a wedding. It also doesn’t take into account your personal natal chart energy e.g, 7th August is not auspicious for people with a Monkey in their charts, as it’s known as a clash day. But, I thought I would share some dates in case you are wanting to experiment with date selection. Please message me if you would like more personalised auspicious date selection for launching courses, getting married, moving house etc.
