The energy for April started at 3:22am, 5th of April as we move into the Wood Dragon until the 5th May.
From the moment we crossed over the threshold into the new month of the April, the Wood element has signalled the theme of the month. Wood is sprinkled around the chart and is rooted deep into the influences of April. Though we also need to look inside the Dragon and notice what is stored here. Dragon is an Earth element though also has hidden within it; the element of Water, which activates the water we see in the theme of the year.
But first, let’s dive into how the Wood element may be influencing you.
The Wood element of Jai is a very stubborn and strong element. It is represented by a big tree, like an old Oak tree. When we consider the symbology of this element we start to understand how strong the tree has to be, in order to survive through ages and moments in history. It’s also unmovable and has roots that dive deep within the earth for it’s stability and resources for survival.
What does this mean for you?
Sometimes Jai can be very inflexible and doesn’t like to compromise if she believes she’s right. Jai is also considered the ‘Commander’ in Qimen Dun Jai and so has a very dominant trait regarding how you may go about your tasks. The Wood element is reminding you to use your authority with some flexibility as you may find that others around you don’t appreciate your strong held views.
On another note though, your inspiration and ideas are coming in quick and fast and you feel fuelled by this. The strong Wood element will provide perseverance and stamina so that the goals you want to achieve in April can be fulfilled.
And just like a canopy of large trees, you will have the ability to shelter others and provide protection if required. The Wood element will not mince words and you may feel confident when being direct with others. If a situation has been brewing for a while, now is the time to speak up and have the energy of the Wood element back you. Though be sure to keep your anger in check when dealing with others as the Wood of the Year and the Month, are both present, this means that things can easily get a little heated. With this awareness, ensure you’re the one that keeps your head on, so that you can weather any stormy eruptions.
As the Wood element provides a channel for inspiration, it also has the ability to open your eyes to the big picture. So you may start to look at where you want to be in a years time or even 10! It’s time to dream big without worrying about how you are going to get there. The Wood element has the expanse to look outward, though is poor on the details. This is totally ok for now, unless you need to get focused on detail for a current project. If this is the case, it may be a good idea to wait for a Metal element day or do some meditation to hone your focus.
The Wood element doesn’t fair well with change of plans. So your level of stress may increase with the multitude of changes which is forecast for April. It may take a little longer to process the changes and you can feel a huge resistance to new routines, but I have to remind you that doing nothing about it, doesn’t stop the changes. So pick up your roots and walk with them, rather than digging your heels in and refusing to budge.
During April you may be feeling the urge to teach what you know to others. April is a great time to investigate this and launch your course or create classes to guide people through a new skill. Be careful though and use diplomacy as sometimes during such strong Wood phases, tact flies out the window and judgement and criticism floods in.
April will be a very goal oriented month and Wood can support you in reaching them!
How Wood can show up physically for you in April
As the Wood element is so strong this month, I would recommend you bring some stretching into your exercise regime. Ensure you are bending and stretching your limbs and muscles as the big Oak tree can become so rigid that you may feel stiff and sore. Yoga, Pilates and moving your limbs will keep the Liver Qi from stagnating.
Heads and migraines may increase this month so if you are prone to these, you may want to explore the core reasons and see if you are able to address the underlying causes.
Try not to go overboard drinking too much alcohol in April as the Liver Qi will already be under a lot more stress having to process all the livery emotions and the Wood element. Instead, doing a safe and guided detox may be just the thing you need to shift you from feeling stuck and to help embrace the new changes coming.
The Earth Dragon
The Dragon of April is an Earth element which has the Wood sitting on top of it. This indicates that the Earth element for this month is unstable and may feel ‘cracked open’. This is because the roots of the Wood element is piercing the Earth to use as it’s resource.
What this may indicate is that communities, unity or groups may not feel cohesive. The cracks are showing and there’s a sense of feeling seperate. You may be able to work through this fracture of your group or it may just become to much pressure and you split for good. Just keep reminding yourself that this separation is, what it is. That this is exactly how the energy is meant to play out, even if it’s painful, it’s part of the cycle of life.
With the Earth element giving away it’s energy, you may feel ungrounded and unfocused and this can lead to worry and stress. Worry is a very Earth element emotion and you can feel like you are over thinking things and getting too caught up in your head. This is another reason why meditation can be a balancing activity for April.
I personally see the Earth element in a ‘mother nurturing’ role to our physical bodies and emotional self. Spleen Qi (Yin Earth element) provides you with nourishing supportive Qi which helps you process your emotions and circumstances through out your life. When Spleen Qi is deficient your body tends to resort to running on adrenaline and burning out. Spleen Qi also assists with improving your immune and digestive system, so ensuring that it is supported will assist you in your general wellbeing and health.
With the elements of April increasing the instability of the Earth element, I highly recommend you support your Spleen Qi to ensure you are supported throughout April.
To support your Spleen Qi you may wish to eat warm stews and hearty meals and reduce the amount of raw or cold foods in your daily meals, as your Spleen can struggle with these. And being mindful of decreasing and intolerant or allergy foods.
Weight bearng exercise is also a great activity you can do to strengthen the muscles and increase your body’s overall strength. The Earth element requires strength to be able to ‘hold it all together’ (like the Earth-planet) and so ensuring you are physical strong can increase your Earth elements potential.
The Earth Dragon is also known to be the storage of Gui-Water which further links the Water element of the Year. What this means is that this month you may see a theme that is related to the entire year and you may be able to get a glimpse into how to best navigate the rest of 2022 in this month. Gui-Water is very creative and can think outside the box, so use this energy to propel your projects into a sustainable long lasting venture.
What you can do to navigate April
We’ve already touched on a few activities already that will help you through the month of April. Here’s a brief outline that may help.
Some activities are:
- Grounding
- Meditation for focus
- Eating warm well cooked meals
- Stretching
- Detox
- Weight bearing exercise
The monthly Flying Stars
The 9 Star is in the Tai Ji this month. This may indicate that your success and promotion is in focus in April. If you are career or business focused you may get the push you need to start to really look into how you can improve your advancements and gain better success.
It’s also indicating that not only are you focusing on your success but your plans will be for your future also! These plans and your urge to gain more from your chosen career, you want to see the big picture and move towards that so that your future is more secure. But, just a small warning, when you start to look into this, it may feel very overwhelming as it seeps into every aspect of your life. So ensure that you do not get too exhausted with your plans that you just drop them. As April is a great month to bust through some very challenging money stuff.
The performing arts will be in focus for April and a return to live performances becomes ever so strong after the restricted previous years of covid. Musicians, actors, singers and dancers may become very busy.
If you have a middle daughter (means you must have 3 daughters), she may feel tired and drained this month by simply being the centre of attention and running here and there. Make sure she gets the rest she needs so that she can keep up with the demands.
Your abundance and abundance making abilities are supported this month! It’s a great month to enhance and plan what you want to see in your life. And you can see the value of what you have in your world is highlighted here. This not only means external things and people, but also your belief in your own value and self-worth. Your gratitude is overflowing for what you have created and you will be supported in diving into the richness of your world.
You may be becoming aware of the challenges in your career. It may be a good time to really look into aspects of your work life that you know is not working for you. Be honest with yourself and cull the things that is holding you back. You may even feel like you need a career change and contemplating letting some things go and pivoting to a new more rewarding business.
April may be a good month to boost your kids immune system as the sickness star has flown into the West. This can indicate that physical health for your children may become a focus and ensure they are getting enough rest and time for recovery after any illness. Though this may also mean that you may not get time to play much in April, or your play plans are changed due to hiccups and unforeseen circumstances.
I’ve also been studying a new (ancient)modality called Qi Men Dun Jia. This is an amazing modality that can help people in so many aspects of their lives. It’s used in litigation, assists to help find lost property, lost people, solve or understand the situation of a crime, increase wealth and many more uses.
I’m only in my infancy with this modality as it’s the most complicated of all Chinese Metaphysics.
You maybe feeling a little stuck or stubborn. In fact this month it’s Fu Yin, meaning you may find it difficult to move forward at all. It’s time to stay still and get razor focused on your goals. There’s a sense of timidness that you may be feeling but put that to the side for your big plans. Now is the time to rest, focus and know that you will be able to move once again, hopefully next month.
You may also feel scrutinised in regards to your money choices and financial situation. This is because you are under pressure from those around you. If you are female, now is not the time to spend big or to make big money decisions. The chart indicates lawsuit and financial loss if you do not manage this situation well. In fact, you may want to hand the issue over to someone else to address.
The QMDJ chart is indicating that you may be having challenges with a Snake in the grass. Or that your fear is; if you do try and move ahead with a new venture, your business could be taken from you, people could sabotage you or it could be disastrous for your reputation. And so you are still, frozen from fear and not sure what direction you should be going.
But the situation isn’t as bad as you first think. Yes it may not move as fast as you want it too. You may not see the success in the right here-and-now, but wha ever your gaols are, there is hope and higher guidance overseeing your desired outcome. The door is open for you to walk through, just be sure you have plans and structure to work through your goals.
