In Chinese Astrology, the energy of a month doesn’t come into until, sometimes, a week into the calendar month. The energy for December starts on the 7th at 5.50pm where we have just welcomed in Yang Water playing and emphasising the Rat (Water) element.
If you thought last month of November was all about the Divine Feminine, then wait until December’s energy comes on the 7th.
The Water element was strong during November and some of the ways in which you saw this publicly, was men that held corrupted power over women, came to light and fell into disgrace. And this will continue with much more force in December.
It’s almost like the waves of the Feminine were starting to build in November and the energy was strong and calm enough to bring down very powerful public heads. Water was diving deep into her depths to find her strength and to build with the tide. Though the surface of the water will not remain calm for much longer, and now as a result, she is a mighty force in which she may just become a tidal wave, cleansing the dross of the past year and the toxicity of dishonesty and distrust.
This year, December brings the double power of Water, which is supported by the Metal of the year and challenges the Fire we see on the surface. What this means is that the element of Water is doubly strong and will flow through and influence every aspect in December.
The Water element is the most Yin element of all, she embodies the Feminine, respects her rest and nurturing qualities, but will be fierce and powerful when it comes to challenges and injustice.
Water has the ability to flow around challenges, to dive deep within the psyche and churns your emotions. This is all for the benefit of learning, honouring yourself, cleansing and releasing. Oh my, she is powerful. She asks you to face your fears, the deepest and most darkest of all, and to bring them up to the surface to crash and smash them on the shore. Then lays them all out on the sand to allow them to crisp and decompose under the scorching Sun. Water time is a period of elimination and expulsion.
Water descends into the darkness and asks you to go internally to seek what has laid hidden beneath the surface. There is nothing that can harm you here, you must learn that Water holds all your memories and the memory since time began, and so she has infinite wisdom in her darkness and cold. And because of her flow, she can help you to meander around the challenges that lie within.
She may also take you back to your childhood and generational lines to teach you about the patterns and trauma that may need healing. It’s interesting just how apt this is being this time of the year when a large majority of the population are in festive season, where family ties feel the strain and memories come to the surface, sometimes forcing you to revert to your child-like behaviours amongst your elders and siblings.
The Water of December is fierce, courageous and strong… there’s nothing really that will stop her force. She has the ability to break down walls, burst through dams and shift the current foundations that were built long before you. She also helps to raise new leaders who aren’t afraid to lead with truth, intelligence and independence.
Water challenges the Fire aspect within you and is asking questions to discover how passionate are you, really? How willing are you to become even more vulnerable and to open your heart to the ultimate; unconditional Love? Water pushes Fire into the spotlight; Fire is shaking and nervous, and is being forced to perform, to show up and to use it’s voice. You may feel like you are not ready for the onslaught that it may ignite, but Water is there holding you, bursting through your fears and using her compulsion to force open the Fire that you have hidden in your belly. She won’t put your Fire out, instead she unleashes it, to continue and engage in their constant Yin and Yang dance. Water and Fire element are opposing elements but also compliment each other and therefore keep challenging your status quo.
If Water is favourable for you, you may just glide and float with this force, like a body surfer riding the waves, diving down, grabbing your knowledge from the depths and then bobbing back up to the surface effortlessly for air. It’s a time to gather your information and knowledge to weave and carefully create a vision for your next voyage. It’s also a time for dreaming and planning within the astral planes, blending through veils to reveal what life can be created with this Divine Feminine by receiving messages from spirit sources.
Though if Water stirs and challenges you, just remember to brace for a shore dump or to be taken out with a rip. You may need to find yourself a boogie board or wait for the next wave to carry you back in, to navigate these times.
Standing on the Earth, walks in nature or soaking in the Sun are practices that can help you navigate this time. This will help dry you off so you don’t become water logged before you dive back in again. Staying in the fear state and becoming stagnant may feel the strongest desires for you. And you may need time out from the world to focus on your fears and anxieties. Even though this is necessary for your process, try not to drown in the depths. Movement and nature are two of the best activities you can do to support you through this tidal wave or Sacred Space sessions can be a great way to assist you >>
And even though, here in the South we are coming into Summer with such strong Water element stirring, there will be undertones of coldness and chill. And because these elements are prominent now, your digestion may need a helping hand. Even in during hot days, it’s best to have cooked foods especially this month. This will help boost the Fire element so your gut will not have to work hard against the coldness of the Water. Raw food and icy cold juices can stagnate your Water element and so enjoying stir fries, fish soups and dahls may actually be the best choices over salads and cold prawns.
Himalayan rock salt in water first thing in the morning, is also helpful to assist the energies to descend into the core of your body and nourish your adrenals. And be sure to take heed of Waters urge to rest, otherwise lethargy or adrenal exhaustion may become prominent at this time. Allow yourself to bathe in the healing waters, renew your energy and detach from the drama.
The Water element is one of change and motion, one of wonder and awe, and the unknown. And there are places and currents to explore both internally and externally. It’s healing time.
