2017 the Year of the Yin Fire Rooster…
The transition to this New Year energy starts on February 3rd 2017, though you may start to feel the transition sooner, but by this date the energy will be well and truly underway. This is the Chinese Solar New Year, the tipping point in the change in energy.
The energy for 2017 feels like a bit of a push me pull me year. One of change and dynamic feels.
The elements for 2017 are Fire and Metal (Rooster).
2017 can unfortunately signify more conflict internationally, more ‘war,’ terror and guns (fire and metal), though ultimately there is also a great sense of optimism and the feeling that even though there are these combats, there is a sense that we can overcome this. As a whole, we are becoming more sensitive and less ‘desensitised’ which is of great importance for the global community.
Sometimes, when war, trauma or tragedy strikes you may disconnect from what is going on for self preservation and as a coping mechanism, but with the appearance of Yin Fire it brings to the forefront the sensitivity that is needed to be able to help transition and birth into the new. Like a Phoenix rising out of its ashes. When people become more sensitive, there will also be more emotional pain which you must face, though in doing so and in experiencing this pain, it is more likely for you to act in a loving and compassionate manner. This will help us all band together to create a greater awareness of what is really going on globally, so we can meet it with compassion. And in doing so, hopefully there will be a much better understanding of what people in need require and what the community can gather to assist.
And this is also where the Arts can help to create a more optimistic community, to help bring healing and joy into your life. The Yin Fire brings in the joy and optimism and according to Raymond Lo (Grand Master) “Rooster is “Peach Blossom” representing romance and beauty, it also generates sentiment for entertainment and happiness, so it is a favourable year for entertainment and glamorous industries.” (http://www.raymond-lo.com/news/100044/the-year-of-the-rooster)
I find this really interesting, as with so much conflict that seems to be currently happening and ‘expected’ for 2017, its within the great arts, music and entertainment which can transform tragic events or shock into healing and connection.
So a beautiful thing for you to do in 2017, is to be drawn into your art, to join a community of musicians or join a theatre group. Allow yourself to be submerged into this culture, it is definitely not a luxury to find joy in play and entertainment, but a necessity in order to process sensitive and emotional events and transform them into more positive and uplifting experiences.
Strong Yin Fire people are also usually the comedians of the group, I know, I have a son who fits this perfectly, and as this is in the ‘position’ for this year, you may find that many comedians come to the forefront of our entertainment industry and you may even find yourself funnier. (see, there was first my Yin Fire joke for 2017). Though it is also a really great indication and reminder to look for the positive, to find the funny in your life. To use laughter and fun to play a major role in the year will also help with transitioning through the tougher times that may occur.
Though according to Raymond Lo (Grand Master) there may also be more Entertainment Stars passing in 2017. Yes, I know. You thought 2016 was the year for famous people to die, though as Raymond Lo explains it, “Yang fire is compared to the Sun, then Yin fire can be Stars. With yin fire weakening on metal, there could be passing away of some movie stars and celebrities in 2017.” (http://www.raymond-lo.com/news/100044/the-year-of-the-rooster) Let’s just see what happens, won’t we? I would prefer we keep our Stars just a little longer, compared to 2016.
So lets continue with the characteristics of Yin Fire…
The Fire element represents a warm heart, being sensitive and very expressive. It is also the most Yang of all the elements and so you will probably feel like you are quite busy. The Fire elements wants to connect, it wears its heart on its sleeve and ignites when its surrounded by people. A great energy to bring into community to initiate open hearted and vulnerable discussions which is supported for 2017.
When the Fire element is healthy, it has the ability to help others to open their hearts, provides courage in the ability to express their feelings and your deeper workings and will spark enthusiasm and excitement.
And Yin Fire also represents the Heart or Heart Chakra, meaning both the physical heart and also the energetic, emotional and compassionate heart. You may wish to focus on your health of your heart, your circulation, inflammatory conditions and any nervousness or restless sleep. Your mental health may also be a focus for this year, so be very vigilant in regards to how you manage these conditions.
Yin Fire also doesn’t like confinement or restriction and needs to connect with wide open spaces, large groups and open vistas. It’s a great reminder to get yourself outdoors and for you look at the bigger picture in life.
Though you may also need to be wary not to jump too quickly and get over excited in 2017. Yes, there will be high optimism and joy, though this doesn’t mean that you will always be grounded in your decisions. Be sure to incorporate more grounding practices in 2017. More meditation, getting outside on the Earth with activities like gardening and exercising.
And the characteristics of Yin Metal…
And here comes some of the contradictions for this year.
Yin Fire is asking you to get out into wide open spaces and Yin Metal, at the same time, is the most ‘contracting’ of all the elements. It’s an element of internalising, pulling in, transformation and reminding you of the importance of ritual and going within.
You may feel the pull between these two energies of Fire and Metal. Though you need to do both. To both connect with the wider community or environment but also use your time to go within, to transform your ‘findings’ and process it all on a deeper level. And this is what Metal is good at; problem solving and alchemicalising.
Out then In, In then Out, Out then in… just like breathing.
Metal is the seed phase of transformation and Fire is the explosive bursting energy on top. In Australia, I find this an interesting energy as many native plants are germinated by fire. Maybe Australia, or those countries with similar germinating natives, will see an upsurge of new beginnings and new possibilities.
And Metal is ‘mature’, where as Yin Fire is like the clown full of innocent fun. Metal will bring in a deeper understanding and wisdom of this need for play. Metal is reflective, it has the ability to transform the negative emotions into positive, and is very strong in discernment, knowing what to hold onto and what to let go of. And this is when you may be able to address or express any grief that you could be holding onto.
The Metal element is THE energy that carries your grief and the grief of our global community. Grief is a really important process in order to allow you to move into and experience part of yourself you may otherwise try and avoid. It’s not a comfortable feeling though is a necessary process of the act of letting go, of dealing with loss and I also find one of both isolation and connectedness. There’s that push pull energy again.
Metal represents the Lungs and Large intestines and these two organs may become a focus for your health. Make sure you address how you breathe, practice mindfulness and being present in the moment. Whilst also focusing on your food choices and exercise is an important focus in 2017. It’s a great time to get out and move your body.
The Metal element is very intelligent, holds attention to detail, order and loves methodical and efficient practices to function well. So keeping to a personal routine will help with bringing down the energy of Fire in order to integrate all the learning and connecting you will be doing. It will help ground the Fire which can easily flicker about and jump from one thing to another.
And the Metal element is also reminding you to see the beauty in your surroundings, of your body and in others. The Metal element thrives on beauty, not in a superficial way, but in an all encompassing ‘beauty of life’ kinda way. Beauty has had a bad rap in the past as being superficial but in all true wisdom and maturity that Metal brings with it, it becomes a necessity to have alongside the stark contrast of tragedy.
Beauty may be seen in the simplest of gestures, a smile to a stranger, watching a mother and her child, the way the rain water runs down a boulder or the song of your local bird. Metal is reminding you that beauty is everywhere and is such an important thing to acknowledge and give gratitude for.
Fire and Metal the two energies that will be playing together for 2017.
This is a big year to listen into your intuition and delve into your Spiritual side of self.
The Fire element is very Spiritually perceptive and clairvoyance is one of Fire positive assets. The Metal element is your reflective element which guides you to delve deeply into your psychology and gain a deeper awareness of yourself.
And so any form of self development, energetic healing or transformation work is very supported for 2017.
It is also said to be a year of confidence and optimism in finance and for the economy. As the Fire element has the ability to ‘conquer’ its money element, which for Fire is Metal. You may have felt this already by looking forward to 2017 with a sense of hope about you or your family’s financial future. I know I have. Though this is mainly on a global scale and your own money abundance could be a little different, depending on your individual natal chart, though overall a good outlook for the general economy.
I also feel that the the Fire and Metal combination is quite transformative as I see the ability of Fire being able to shape and mold Metal into what it wants it to be. Its calling you to use your challenges in order to shape you, to define you and for you to create what you wish from it.
Fire and Metal interaction with each other is both contradictory, challenging, disruptive and conflicting yet open and compassionate and deep and reflective, though each has its part to play. Each has a reminder for you….
- Stay open
- Stay vulnerable
- Connect with your community
- Make time to reflect and process
- Create a personal routine
- Have fun and play
- Enjoy music, art, dance and theatre
- Be compassionate and speak from your heart
- Meditate and ground your energy
- See the beauty in everything
- Let go
- Move your body
- And breathe
Now lets look at another aspect of the Year….
Year 1 for Feng Shui and Numerologically!
A lot of people, in regards to numerology, have been mentioning that 2016 was the year of the 9. The year of completion and the ending of things so new beginnings can come in for 2017. According to Numerology 2016 was a very karmic year in which you were almost forced into gaining deeper insight into yourself and of letting go of old patterns.
On a Feng Shui level, it was a #2 year, where health challenges were your focus. Health challenges not only governs physical health but also emotional, mental, psychological and spiritual self, so it was a year in which you may have been personally challenged in this area and in which you needed to find a more meaningful way of managing, healing or clearing these challenges. And remember there is still a bit of this energy left to go, up until Feb 2017.
In Feng Shui, the Yearly Time Stars move in reverse and so 2017 becomes a #1 year.
And as Numerology moves in a forward fashion, from 9, it then moves also into a Year 1.
What this means in Feng Shui is, the the #1 Star flies into the Tai Ji, the middle of the Bagua, which then becomes the central theme of the year.
#1 is a neutral star which means it will neither support your individual energy nor will it negate your energy, and so its all about what you make of your year yourself. So 2017, becomes a year where you need to focus on your Woman Luck.
Woman Luck (traditionally called Man Luck, but hey let’s dive into the Femine) is how you decide you want to live your life and then chose which tools you need and how you will action it.
Woman Luck covers everything from how compassionate you are, to whether you have a positive or negative mindset. Its how you educate yourself, your personal and spiritual development, what you manifest, what you believe in, what sport you participate in and the food you put in your belly.
Woman Luck is in your hands and you can drive your luck wherever you choose or focus your attention. This, in Western culture, is called your Free Will.
The other lucks are:- Earth Luck – your environment and how that affects you e.g. Feng Shui
Heaven Luck – what you were born into e.g. your Natal Chart energy
Though Woman Luck has also a strong connection to how charitable and compassionate you are towards others, which in turn, strengthens your Woman Luck.
I find this correlates beautifully with the Yin Fire Rooster year as to how compassionate and sensitive you can be in order to truly make a change in the world.
#1 also holds the energy of Career and so you may find yourself focusing a lot on how best to support your career choices and how to go about making it all work for you. Very exciting for a lot of us who are adulting!
The element that corresponds to #1 Star is the Water element which means that this is also a focus. This could relate to making sure you aren’t burning yourself out with all your work commitments, which is your Kidney Qi (Water) and keeping a check on any anxiety that may arise. Its a good idea to make sure you are always moving your body, that you don’t become lazy or stagnant and to know that you have the ability to flow around challenges. It all comes back to your own will power and to act on and realise your goals.
And Water is the element that feeds new beginnings.
I also find that this #1 Star is a sign of hope and future success. It does not mean necessarily you will find the ultimate amazing shebang of abundance in 2017, but it can mean that there isn’t a sign of lost hope, of thinking that everything is collapsing and that you can’t see your way out. No. #1 has an internal feeling of positivity that even in the challenges, there will always be hope of positive outcome, healing or awareness, and that all is one and we can create a better space/life/world.
I like numerology but not up to the ins and outs of it so best read someones blog post who is >> Here is a nice Numerology site to ponder over regarding the Year 1 >>
So how do you feel 2017 will be for you and the world in which we all live together?
My hope is for more compassion.
As that encompasses a lot. A lot of circumstances and events.
I also hope that more countries and people can open its borders, open their arms to those in need….followed alongside with compassion, of course.
I wish you a beautiful and loving 2017, where you acknowledge your own inner strength, courage, beauty and inner clown.
Many blessings to you and…
